Write 31 Days – Day 31: The Play is Over

Write 31 Days – Day 31: The Play is Over

“When the author steps on the stage, the play is over.”

~C.S. Lewis~

One more by C.S. Lewis that may not be “not-so-famous” but I needed to include in this 31 days because of the profoundness.

Honestly, I don’t know the context of this quote but I think of Jesus and His imminent return. But until He steps onto the stage, I have the responsibly to live my life well. To love well, to be a good steward of all He’s given me.

The play is not over, until He is on the scene.

Write 31 Days – Day 30: Too Busy or Prioritizing?

Write 31 Days – Day 30: Too Busy or Prioritizing?

“Instead of saying, ‘I’m too busy’, say, ‘That’s not a priority’, and see how that feels.”

~unknown~

I heard this quote a couple months ago and it’s profoundness has impacted me greatly.

I’m in a season of life being extremely full. I can’t do it all or be it all and some things I’m not able to get to.

I choose the things I will not let fall to the ground by holding them up to this quote. If I can’t in good conscience say, “That’s not a priority.”, then I shift things and create time to make sure that happens.

On the other hand, there truly are good things that I cannot get to, because, in the scope of life right now, it’s not a priority.

I encourage you to try this little assignment this month and see if your time gets managed a little differently!

Write 31 Days – Day 29: What’s the Problem?

Write 31 Days – Day 29: What’s the Problem?

“The problem wasn’t that I wasn’t doing the right things, I wasn’t believing the right things.”

~Marie Sheets~

As believers, it’s so easy to get caught up in the doing. There are lots of good things to do.

But when we’re not finding victory or freedom in life, we need to re-evaluate what our belief system looks like.

Asking the Lord to help us believe and think like He does will lead to living life abundantly and victoriously!

Write 31 Days – Day 28: The Same Story

Write 31 Days – Day 28: The Same Story

“That is a different story… but perhaps it is the same story.”

~movie line~

And honestly I don’t remember which movie (but it may have been Lord of the Rings). But I love, that as different as each chapter in my story can be, it is all a part of the same story – my story.

The interwovenness in life is truly amazing!

Write 31 Days – Day 27: God is in Control?

Write 31 Days – Day 27: God is in Control?

“God is in charge but He’s not in control.”

~Bill Johnson~

The sovereignty of God and what that really means can be a hot topic among believers.

I love this quote and then the explanation from Pastor Bill Johnson.

As a parent, I am in charge when it comes to my kiddos. But honestly, I’m not necessarily, in control. My kids do things against my will. They make choices I would never make.

God, when He planted two trees in the Garden and gave Adam and Eve free will, gave much control over to mankind. He is ultimately in charge but not in control since He chose to share control with humanity.

Write 31 Days – Day 26: Long Days

Write 31 Days – Day 26: Long Days

“The days are long but the years are short.”

~unknown~

I don’t know who originally said this but nothing could apply to parenthood as accurately as this.

If you have only littles, you may not have realized it yet. You may only identity with “the days are long”, but I guarantee you, it will be very soon that you also see that “the years are short”.

To go with this quote, I love this meme (from Dr. Dobson) I just was reminded of today…

Enjoy the moment, mama and daddy, it passes ever so quickly.

Write 31 Days – Day 25: Not Just Healed, Whole

Write 31 Days – Day 25: Not Just Healed, Whole

” God, in His wisdom, knows the way we need to walk, not to just be healed but to be whole.”

~Mitch Stroda~

Healing is awesome – whether physical, spiritual or emotional. But sometimes we want the instantaneous healing without actually dealing with the root of the problem. We want the headache to go away without dealing with the reason why we have the headache.

But God. He cares more about the root. He cares more about the journey than the destination. He is wise and knows that, as great as healing is, wholeness is even better.

Write 31 Days – Day 24: Far Better

Write 31 Days – Day 24: Far Better

“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”

C.S. Lewis

Ok, this one is pretty famous but as we come to the last few days of this challenge, I couldn’t help including it.

It’s a good reminder that as unknown as anyone’s future can be, God’s purposes, plans, and destiny are always good. He leads us from glory to glory. And AMAZING things are ahead!

Write 31 Days – Day 23: How’s Your Performance?

Write 31 Days – Day 23: How’s Your Performance?

“Man often tries to do through performance what God already did through creation.”

~Kris Vallotton~

I think sometimes, we as believers, forget. Forget the power of God’s design in creation, forget the power of the Cross.

We forget that He loves us more than we could ever love ourselves. He wants connection with us more than we desire connection with Him.

He has already made a way through creation and through the Cross. There’s nothing left for us to do except choose Him – choose “us”.

We need to quit trying to perform for or earn what He has already made provision for!

Write 31 Days – Day 22: What’s Scary to God?

Write 31 Days – Day 22: What’s Scary to God?

“Deadlines don’t scare God. He maintains peace through it all.”

~Dani Stroda~

Again, I realize how much not like me, God is. When a deadline is approaching and I’m not prepared or don’t have the finances, I tend to start freaking a bit.

But God… He maintains His cool through it all. Grabbing hold of His peace when deadlines are approaching… something I’m learning to do!
