“Be yourself and don’t blow smoke.”
I blogged a bit on this HERE. It’s a line that will stay with me for a long time. The beautiful woman who shared this wisdom is one of the most ‘real’ people I know. She’s godly and wise and funny and a bit edgy.
To me, blowing smoke is that facade, fakey, face you put on when you’ve just been yelling at your kids but someone rings the door bell.
To me, blowing smoke is telling people the nauseatingly perfect Christian answer when it’s far from how you’re actually doing.
To me, blowing smoke is when you live in denial to how you really feel, burying those emotions deep until there’s no where let for them to go but to burst.
To me, blowing smoke is being all dressed up in your Sunday best but hiding dark sin in your heart….
So don’t do it. Don’t blow smoke, y’all. Just be real, be true to yourself, be authentic, be you.
