“If we’re impressed with what they have, we can’t give them what we have – which is what they need.” ~Marios Ellinas~
This one has stuck with me for several years. Our friend was preaching on the spirit of wisdom at a weekend of meetings and this profound thought pierced me.
As believers and followers of Jesus, we have Jesus – the way, the truth and the life – the solution to the world’s emptiness, hurts and fears. But so often, we are daunted by or so impressed with the world’s success or money that we are locked up in our sharing of the Good News.
And I’m not talking about “witnessing”. I’m talking about being able to have relationship with unbelievers, fully expressing the life, love, and heart of Jesus towards anyone. Without being dazzled by the temporary things they have.
Jesus is impressive. Others will be impressed with Him shining bright through our lives, if we just let Him shine… unimpressed by what the world may possess.
