Holidays and relationships are supposed to be FUN! So many times, we can dread spending time with family because maybe the relationships are not developing and there is no life when we are together. I remember one year when I was complaining to God that spending time with my family was boring. He challenged me, “YOU have my life in you. YOU bring the fun.”
As believers, we should be the most joyful people on the planet! Joy is not just an inward contentment but should also carry into an outward happiness.
Yes, the holidays and the preparation that goes with them, is a lot of work. Yes, sometimes you don’t get to chose the crowd that shows up at a holiday gathering. But don’t let any of that dull your senses to the joy of the season.
“Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let joy overflow, for you are united with the Anointed One!”
~Philippians 4:4 (The Passion Translation)
Words like cheerful, joyous, celebration… these sound like having fun to me!
So this holiday season, let’s choose to be the carriers of fun. Do something little outside of your comfort zone, initiate a game time, keep conversation positive and pleasant. Don’t sit back in a sluggish or negative atmosphere and let the Enemy rob you of the joy that the Lord intends for us to partake in!
