(This is Day 9 of a 10 day series of Tips to Position Yourself for the Best Year Ever)
The ninth step to positioning ourselves for an amazing 2015 is to…
say “Wow!” everyday.
My toddler says ‘wow’ multiple times a day. She is easily awed by simple things all around her. She is always discovering, aways curious. It’s easy to lose our wonder in life. We’ve seen it all before. We know too much. We don’t take time to discover new things anymore. We lose our curiosity. But I’m calling for a renewed sense of awe in 2015.
With God, there is always something new. There is always something to be discovered. Even if it is the same ol’ sun setting in the sky like has happened every night for the past thousands of years – there is wonder to be felt. I believe that, if we will let Him, God wants to open our eyes to see the same things in a different light or to see new things altogether. There are new experiences to be had, new feelings to feel. If we will let Him and say yes to the journey, we can bring wonder back to our lives this year.
Maybe the first step to a renewed sense of wonder is just the word ‘wow!’. Our wonder-filled toddler is our number 4 child – 15 years after number 1 child. I’ve learned a few things, about parenting and about life, along the way. One thing I’ve learned is if I’ll stop and take the time to discover with her, ‘wow!’ becomes part of my every day vocabulary. ‘Wow’ to the clouds, ‘wow’ to the birds, ‘wow’ to the way the blender works, ‘wow’ to the pretty dress on TV…
This year, let’s intentionally make ‘wow!’ a part of our conversation every day. Stopping to realize and experience again the wonder of creation, the wonder of this planet the Lord has created and given to us to inhabit, the wonder of people, and most importantly the wonder of our vast God. Wow!
Say ‘Wow!’ everyday and watch JOY grow in your life!
