Positioning Yourself for the Best Year Yet: Dream Like Never Before

(This is Day 6 of a 10 day series of Tips to Position Yourself for the Best Year Ever)

The sixth step to positioning ourselves for an amazing 2015 is to…

Dream like never before!

Every year, for the past several years, in January I have bought a large poster board and titled it our “Family Dream Board”. The board sits out in an accessible place for all the family to right down their dreams for the year. These are not really goals or resolutions – and these are mainly things we have no control over but are asking the Lord to provide and make happen. Big things that take miracles. It is absolutely overwhelming the number of miracles the Lord has done over the past few years, simply because we asked.

As we grow up, we often stop dreaming. The process starts young because when we start dreaming out loud there’s always a ‘well-meaning’ (dream crushing) adult to introduce us to ‘reality’ and point out all the reasons the dream will never come true. Those who continue to dream into adulthood are often accused of ‘having their head in a cloud’ because they will not reckon with ‘reality’. But we are made to be dreamers. And not dreamers just to dream. But dreamers to dream big things and then see them come to fruition.

This morning one of my spiritual fathers read this verse…

“Whatever you ask for in My name, I will do it so that the Father will get glory from the Son. Let Me say it again: if you ask for anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:13-14 (The Voice)

…and then he explained something I’d never thought of before. He said that ‘in My Name’ denotes, ‘in My Nature’, that if you ask for something that is in His Nature, He will do it. Of course, He would never do anything we ask that is not in His nature – i.e.: call down fire from heaven – but when we ask for things that are in His nature, He loves to say YES!

We have an amazingly generous Daddy that loves to bless His kids. And He wants us to ASK. I know some think the danger in this type of relationship with God is that we will begin to love the gifts over the Giver. Let me tell you that my experience is that I fall more and more in love with the Giver each time He overwhelms me with something I do not deserve. The things He gives are just a token of our love relationship.

So this year, I encourage you to DREAM big! Ask for fun things, awesome experiences, influential ministries, grace to accomplish things that have this far been impossible. We serve the God of the impossible!
