Twenty Years From Now

Twenty years from now I won’t regret the extra time spent snuggling my baby in the morning instead of popping out of bed.

Twenty years from now I won’t regret the extra money spent on lattes for tweens when I need one too.

Twenty years from now I won’t regret having a messy house over a spotless one.

Twenty years from now I won’t regret that I chose to bring my kids along on my ‘career’ path.

Twenty years from now I won’t regret that our kids didn’t have a bedtime so they could go to the 10pm showing of a funny movie.

Twenty years from now I won’t regret the coffee hours spent discussing ministry dreams with my husband instead of pursuing a life of ‘my own’.

Twenty years from now I won’t regret the extra long breakfast conversation with my Grandma who tells me the same story twice within a couple hours.

Twenty years from now I won’t regret that I taught my kids to write down dreams instead of goals and to press into Jesus instead of push themselves harder.

Twenty years from now I won’t regret the extra time spent giving the barista an encouraging word and smile.

Twenty years from now I won’t regret that I chose relationship over the rules.

Twenty years from now I’m sure I’ll have some regrets but I’m guessing it will be over time NOT given, money NOT spent and words NOT shared.

Twenty years from now I will be living in the world I am creating today.
