I adore

This morning I was thinking about this beautiful room in a restaurant that my husband and I had dinner at a few nights ago. The restaurant is owned by an Italian and he has fashioned the building with Italy in mind – even importing some beautiful wood from there. There is a room set off from the rest of the seating that is set up with a loooong family-style wooden table. All around the room are built-in wine racks. Add in some gorgeous lighting – I fell in love with this room.

As I pondered this thought, I decided to make a list of things I adore. A list of whimsy. A lot like an “I’m grateful for…” list but not quite the same. Then I turned to my daily devotional and read,

“Rejoice in Me always!… So many people dream of the day they will finally be happy: when they are out of debt, when their children are out of trouble…. While they daydream, their moments are trickling into the ground like precious balm spilling wastefully from overturned bottles. Bring your moments to Me, and I will fill them with vibrant Joy. Now is the time to rejoice in My presence!”

That sealed the deal. Today is the day to rejoice. Be happy. Enjoy life. Soak in the Creator’s goodness. Especially in light of 9/11. Our lives could look so much different than they do today – but for the grace of God. I know it’s unpopular to say but at the end of the day – in politics, in the war against terrorism, in the unrest in the Middle East, shoot, in the unrest in the good ol’ USA – Jesus wins. For reals. Jesus wins. The world is NOT going to hell in a handbasket. Heaven WILL invade earth. And Jesus wins.

Whew, starting to preach there a bit. On to the adoring part….

1. to regard with the utmost esteem, love and respect; honor.

2. to pay divine honor to; worship

3. to like or admire very much.

What I’m talking about is adore #3 so here we go. There is no order of priority or preference here, just a short list as it comes to mind.

…There’s so much more whimsy that I come across in life but these are a few that I’m rejoicing in today. What about you? What do you adore? What’s your list of whimsy for today? What moments will you rejoice in, instead of letting them fall to the ground for a ‘someday I’ll be happy when…’?

Philippians 4:4

“Most of all, friends, always rejoice in the Lord! I never tire of saying it: rejoice!” {The Voice}

“Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in Him!” {The Message}
